Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be bet on in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your computer, using an Internet account. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to get the greatest combination of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will then be "dealt" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and players should now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful players are agile enough to select the most money-making ones each and every time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Further, several styles of the game allow the player a chance to double their winnings, in which instance a further round is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
