Video Poker is a beloved game that can be gambled on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, through an Internet connection. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the highest combination of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the play button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has selected which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are dealt if desired. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to pick the most money-making game each instance.

Once the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Additionally, several styles of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their winnings, in which instance a further round is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
