How to Play Video Poker

Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be gambled on in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your home computer, through a web account. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards achievable in order to acquire money. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, apart from the line of contact with competing players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the player has decided on which cards he or she would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning players are agile enough to select the most money-making ones each instance.

Once the first round has finished, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the player an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case another hand is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
