Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be bet on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a web account. The game rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to get the best combination of cards as you can in order to come away with money. On this account it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be "distributed" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players should now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to choose the most money-making game each time.

After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which instance a further round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
