Video Poker is a beloved game that can be wagered on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your personal computer, through a net connection. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the highest combination of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the enthusiast has decided on which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be handed out. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are agile enough to choose the most money-making ones each and every time.

As soon as the first round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Additionally, several versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which situation another round is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
