Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be wagered on in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your PC, using an Internet connection. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the highest assemblage of cards achievable in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the line of contact with competing players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers should now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the gambler has selected which cards he wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are agile enough to select the most beneficial ones every time.

After the first round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Further, a few styles of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their profits, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
