Video Poker is a popular game that can be bet on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through a web connection. The regulations are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the highest mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will be "handed out" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be dealt if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most beneficial game every time.
After the first round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Further, some styles of the game give the player an opportunity to double their wins, in which case another game is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
